Thomsen letter: Basin school levy
Vote on March 8 in favor of Basin school supplemental levy.
Boise County Republicans supported the 2014 Basin School District two-year levy and they will do so again on March 8. We know the importance of the programs that were funded by the levy. Two years ago we wrongly assumed that the funds would eventually be replaced by an increase in state funding but our state has “restored” education funding to only 2009 levels. Basin and 90 other school districts (out of 115) are proposing supplemental levies again this election season and Idaho remains dead last in per capita education funding. None of us, Republicans, Democrats and Independents, are proud of that statistic. Boise County voters will support the proposed supplement levy in our district by paying just $43-$176 per year (based on home values of $100,000 and $300,000 respectively) for two more years.
