Krell letter: GOP opinion wrong
Steve Yates' accusation in the Statesman (Feb.16) that I was “trotted out” by Idaho Democrats in my testimony to the Senate Health and Welfare Committee was a complete fabrication — I'll refrain from calling it an outright lie — and an insult meant to suggest I could not have been speaking for myself. I had no contact with “Idaho Democrats,” ( I'm not very political) and Yates has attempted to divide this issue into his good guys on the Republican side and those big government Democrats, when in fact this is an issue of fairness and humaneness and equality for all our citizens, that should cross party lines.
Yates has given us the same worn out ideological hypocrisy that opposition to the Affordable Care Act justifies denying health care to thousands of Idaho citizens. He is as mindless as he is heartless. And he happens to be very wrong — and knows it — about me being “trotted out” by anyone. I spoke only for myself, reflecting the tragedy I see daily as a practicing physician in this great state.
