Nielsen letter: First pope married
According to the gospels of Mark, Matthew and Luke, Simon Peter and his brother Andrew left their fishing boats to become the first disciples of Jesus. According to later tradition Peter went on to Rome and became the first pope. Popes are supposed to be unmarried. But the gospels tell us the first miracle of Jesus was to cure Peter’s mother-in-law of a fever. Now in order to have a mother-in-law a man has to have a wife. Therefore the first pope was a married man (Mark 1:29-31; etc.).
