Hinatsu letter: Cruz is eligible
Regarding “Cruz Ineligible,” Jan. 29 letter written by Deborah Carney, Boise.
Really? Mr. Cruz is not eligible to be president because his mother, a U.S. citizen, happened to be in Canada when he was born? Unthinkable. That means that any child born to a U.S. mother stationed overseas would also be ineligible. Preposterous. A U.S. citizen is a U.S. citizen regardless of where they happen to be standing “at the moment.” Once a parent is a citizen of the U.S., any child they later have is a “natural born” citizen, regardless of where the mother happens to be when the child is born. Educate yourselves, people. Don’t just quote ignorant pundits who are promoting an agenda. Learn the facts. Mr. Cruz and Mr. Sanders are as eligible as Mr. McCain or Mr. Romney or Ms. Clinton. Find a real reason to either vote or not to vote for someone.
