Secrist letter: House Bill 1205
I recently had the opportunity to attend the hearing on House Bill 1205, known as the Healthy Idaho Plan, for expanding health care to the 78,000 people caught in the insurance gap. This plan was developed over three years by Idaho experts appointed to a task force by Gov. Butch Otter. So many people came from all over the state in support of the bill that it took three hearing rooms to seat them all. Of the hundreds of people who attended the hearing, only one person spoke against the bill. All others were in favor. The people and the experts have clearly spoken. The question is, “Is the Legislature listening?”
