Faddis letter: Otter and Medicaid

When I read something from Gov. Butch Otter like the piece in the Jan. 22 paper, I have to wonder just how many functioning neurons he has in that cranium.

The expansion of Medicaid that the Idaho Republicans refuse to allow is not an entitlement. Unlike Bush’s Medicare D, which is totally unfunded, all of the ACA is paid for by taxes in the law. Therefore, we are paying for Medicaid expansion but not getting it because the Republicans will not accept something that the Democrats designed. Instead the brilliant governor wants to raise your taxes by $30 million per year to pay for a program that is a total farce. It is hard to believe that anyone with a mind could propose such a pile of garbage.

If our legislators are moral ethical people, they will tell the governor where to file his proposal and accept Medicaid expansion. It will save taxpayers hundreds of millions of dollars and save hundreds of lives.
