DeKnikker letter: Ben Carson

Ben Carson is my choice for president in 2016.

Ben is a natural born citizen. Ben contributes his success to his mom. She stated: “No one is to blame for you, but you.” She required reading two books a week. Reading improved his vocabulary and comprehension skills. God, the Bible, a band teacher and a ROTC instructor were also positive influences in Ben’s life.

Ben’s goal was to be the best at whatever he attempted. His dream was to become a doctor. At age 10 he became interested in Johns Hopkins University. He became director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins at the age of 33. He retired after 35 successful years.

Ben received a scholarship to Yale University. Here, he met his talented wife, Candy. They have raised three sons. Ben and Candy have established reading rooms throughout the U.S. for students along with the Carson Scholarship for academics.

Ben believes in the Constitution, the First and Second Amendments, and We the People.

Many have said that Ben is too quiet. I like this quote: “In gentleness there is great strength. Power can be a very quiet thing.” Anonymous.
