America’s Civil War came about because the nation was so divided that war was inevitable. Our two major political parties have worked long and hard at dividing “we the people.” They would have us believe that other party is our enemy. If we continue down this path, “we the people” will be “that enemy within,” making war possible once again. History does have a way of repeating itself. This war may never happen, but I’m inclined to believe it won’t be for lack of trying by both parties. Hate fuels wars. According to an article in a magazine called “The Week,” Republicans and Democrats view each other with growing disdain that borders on hatred. We stop now or that which is inevitable will happen.
