Lang letter: Special needs child

After reading the article about the speech therapist striking an autistic child when she feared that she was going to be charged, I had to write in. I worked in California for over 17 years in Special Ed working with autistic children, aggressive and nonaggressive. Each day was stressful, fun, challenging, tiring and very rewarding. My question is, doesn’t this state train their employees? If you work with autistic children, whether he/she is aggressive or not, you should have restraint training. This is for the safety of the child and the adult. If this not something that is done in this state, it certainly should be.
