It will be difficult to express my horror about the news I recently heard, as my head is exploding and my BP is elevated. It seems that an employee of our schools can slap a special needs child, causing swelling, loosened tooth and abrasions on inside of the mouth, and be charged only with a misdemeanor.
Compare this to the time I served on a local jury. We were asked to convict a man of felony aggravated assault because he threw some papers that (may or may not have) struck an adult.
There is something very wrong with the judicial system. It sickens and frightens me. Were that my child, there would be hell to pay. My heart aches for that poor child who suffers alone.
