Turley letter: Governor’s health plan

The governor’s health care recommendation just doesn’t do the job. Poor, working Idahoans don’t just need a checkup (which the governor’s plan covers). Poor, working Idahoans need ongoing treatment for asthma, diabetes, high blood pressure, COPD, heart failure, back pain, depression and addiction.

I know about asthma because my daughter struggles with it. She sees the asthma specialist (not covered in the governor’s plan) at least one time a year, where they do a special test for her breathing (not covered by the governor’s plan). And she takes medication daily (not covered), and has an emergency inhaler on hand at all times (not covered). When she breathes in heavy dust or chemical fumes, and her breathing is almost impossible, she has to get treatment at the ER (not covered).

The people of Idaho need a better plan. A plan that will keep Idahoans working.
