Weis letter: Albertson Family Foundation

I am writing to express disappointment that Idaho’s largest public foundation was overlooked in your Business Insider article “How 5 Big Idaho Foundations Help Shape the State.” With $295 million in assets, the University of Idaho Foundation, Inc. is the second largest foundation in Idaho, only behind the Albertson Family Foundation. It is twice the size of any other foundation associated with an Idaho public educational institution.

The Foundation manages and distributes private support to continue the University’s educational excellence and growth across our great state. It distributed $20.5 million in 2015, including $9.7 million for scholarships and related programs. The University, while based in Moscow, has a significant presence in this community, with one of its main campuses located in Boise and several research and educational extensions spread throughout the Treasure Valley.

I urge your readers to visit our websites uidahofoundation.org and uidaho.edu/boise to learn more about the Foundation, and how its role helps shape our state, including the lives of Treasure Valley residents.

Bob Weis, Executive Director, University of Idaho Foundation, Moscow
