Tanton letter: Unsafe roads
In my 50 years of driving I have never had a problem seeing the lines in the roadway’s ether white or yellow. Now since the re-stripping of the new chip sealed areas there are several times you cannot see any lines on the road. This paint does not meet safety requirements, its supposed to have glass beads embedded in the paint so it reflects all light. None of this new paint reflects anything and is just a flat paint (no shine you can see that with your own eyes) and it is everywhere. I have confirmation from ACHD that there is a problem. This is putting every drivers life in danger. The times you can’t see the lines are at night with oncoming traffic’s headlights, when its wet at night, when traveling south and the sun is above the road and any road going south and some eastward. Please drive careful and report this problem when and where you see it to everybody not just ACHD. The road’s I know of are Federal Way, Orchard, Overland, Americana Blvd., Gowen Rd. and Broadway Ave. but it is everywhere. They have known of this since June/July and done nothing.
