Rogers letter: Water rights

Thanks to the Statesman for running the article by Rocky Barker on the Dec. 18 In the Boise and surrounding areas, those of us who receive irrigation water assume it will be there every year when we need it. Thanks to expert water management by the US Bureau of Reclamation, State of Idaho and the US Army Corp of Engineers this has been the case. Lets keep it that way. We do not need the state legislature mucking around. We know what their track record is. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The canal companies do a pretty decent job of delivering the water but they need to stay out of politics. In my dealings with Nampa and Meridian Irrigation District, if you want a straight answer from them, forget it. They probably wear out carpets every year from the foot shuffling they do over there. I am a Treasure Valley water user and the Treasure Valley Water Users Association has never contacted me. If there is a problem, let the courts take it on.
