McCoy letter: Caring
I was waiting for an appointment at the VA here in Boise last week. Due to so many people being served, it was taking longer to see the doctor. There were only two of us waiting by the end of the afternoon. There was an elderly couple waiting along with me. The wife of this elderly veteran was so attentive to her husband that it caught my attention. The veteran was speaking in a low, almost like a whisper so that the wife had to lean over to hear and converse with him. I asked her where they were from and how long they had been married. She replied, “Emmett and 54 years.” I was so impressed with her loving and caring ways with her husband. I couldn’t help thinking that this is what is meant by to love and cherish till death do us part. Through sickness or health, she was his soul mate. The love was so evident that we all could learn from this couple. Marriage has become something that can be ended when the first trial of problems arise. This woman demonstrated what is meant by, “till death do us part.”
