Gaither letter: ISIS and ISIL
Are you confused about these two similar acronyms? Me too. President Obama and everyone in his administration stopped using ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) and began using ISIL (Islamic State of Iraq and Levant) a few months back.
At first I thought it was a slip of tongue but decided to research it. As it turns out Levant is an Islamic term for all the land west of Iraq including Israel. By using ISIL Obama is saying that ISIS has claim to the land of Israel.
Is it a slap at Israel and/or is he telling the Muslim world that he supports their claim to Israel?
