McNeil letter: THX concert

A big thank you to Paul Tillotson, Idaho’s renowned musician and Gene Harris protégé, for his generosity and commitment to the 13th annual Paul Tillotson Scholarship Concert, held in November at Borah High School. Since 2002, Paul has contributed his time, talent, and resources to this annual fundraiser that awards a $1,000 scholarship to a senior high school student in the Borah music program.

During the concert, the audience was entertained and enthralled. Paul brought us Johnny Neel, vocalist/songwriter from Nashville, Tenn., and the Paul Tillotson Trio (Jim Kassis, drums and Rod Wray, bass). Most memorable was experiencing the sheer energy of the jazz while seeing the beaming faces of Borah High students, full of joy and concentration as they played alongside Paul and his invited guests.

Boise is fortunate for the opportunity to experience the talent and dedication of Paul Tillotson and the musicians he brings. All are committed to sharing their music and nurturing the next generation of Idaho musicians.

Boise, do not miss the 2016 concert, which promises, yet again, to showcase the power of music to move us forward and brighten our community. Many thanks, Paul.

Barbara McNeil and Harry Miller, Eagle
