Fields letter: Gun violence

I am so saddened by yet another mass shooting in the United States. Once again, the shooters used handguns and automatic weapons purchased legally in the United States. I applaud The New York Times for their front page editorial, End the Gun Violence in America — “It is a moral outrage and national disgrace that civilians can legally purchase weapons designed to kill people with brutal speed and efficiency.” “America’s elected leaders offer prayers for gun victims and then, callously and without fear of consequence, reject the most basic restrictions on weapons of mass killing.”

I am an Idaho resident and mother of two young children. I am so disappointed in our elected leaders and live in fear that my children will become victims of gun violence. How many Americans have to die before Labrador, Simpson, Crapo and Risch do anything about it?
