Lowery letter: Domestic livestock

Letting domestic livestock wander around on property belonging to persons who are not their owner is almost as absurd as letting these same livestock water in our streams, which they fill with e-coli. This is the water we drink and irrigate our food crops with.

I grew up on my grandparents’ farm in Mississippi. If your domestic livestock was off your property or in the streams, you would get a visit by law enforcement. If these same domestic livestock caused damage to persons or property, the owner was responsible.

Just another spin-off of the cowboy myth. I have been a cowboy and it is a nasty, lonesome and underpaid job. There is no romance in it.
