Joki letter: No to recall
On Nov. 27 Christine Donnell-Gary Bennett (Emmett) moved their recall of our West Ada School District board into the smear and fear phase by asking for an investigation of board members’ religious and political beliefs. ... Value your vote and local control. Started by former Superintendent Donnell and a walk-off-the-job press interview by Superintendent Linda Clark, on the eve of an all-important levy election, these two did the unthinkable as educators, mediators, leaders by abandoning their kids, parents and teachers. A defeat of this levy would have surely pushed their recall plan into high gear. But to their surprise a record voter turnout denied them.
I have resided in the West Ada district for 45 years. I taught for 40 years. I attend board meetings. I support my Zone 3 trustee, Carol Sayles. Interim Superintendent Joe Yochum and this board are moving the agenda forward. I see this recall as sour grapes to certain individuals due to losses at the polls, removal of rubber-stamp ways and careless spending that is now replaced with clarification, transparency and fiscal accountability. No to Donnell-Bennett recall.
