Moore letter: The homeless

I once viewed the homeless people in our community as being lazy and not working hard enough for what they want, but how incredibly ignorant of me. Who am I to look down upon people because they need to ask others for some spare change or a little help? In reality, I should have had the compassion to realize that not everyone is as fortunate as the rest. Driving into downtown from the Connector, and seeing the increase in the tents set up in front of the homeless shelter, should not have only opened my eyes as to how bad the situation is, but all of Boise’s as well. The stigma directed toward the homeless needs to be lifted, and compassion needs to be spread. I challenge everyone to change how they view the homeless, and lend a hand when a hand is needed.
