Tener letter: Climate change
I’d like to congratulate Dave Greegor on his “coming out” piece as “walking the talk of card-carrying evangelistic activist for social change.” We now know his mindset. Unfortunately, there are many environmental scientists that disagree with the “350 dogma.” Emotional support of faulty science and politically motivated ends leads to disaster.
Some facts Greegor left out of his piece that he should consider before putting his energies to work on change. (1) The mean temperature of the Earth has been constant for the last 15 years — during the critical crossover time of CO2 350 point. (2) There have been a number of times in Earth’s history where CO2 levels have exceeded 2000 and maintain the temperature level we are currently experiencing. (3) CO2, a minor element of our environment, is critical to all living organisms — one on which human activity has a very minor influence. (4) Politically funded and motivated actions are not science. It is all about exercising power over our lives to the benefit of small elitist groups.
If Greegor wants to be a true environmental steward, fight to discover the truth no matter where it leads. We have a long journey to understanding our right social paths.
