Buch letter: Climate change
I read with interest Dave Greegor’s Nov. 11 opinion piece titled “Climate Change: Tackling the Ostrich Syndrome.” Republican congressman Chris Gibson of New York has introduced a resolution (H. Res 424) that acknowledges the adverse impact of climate change and calls on Congress to work together toward a solution. Congressman Gibson represents a district that, like much of Idaho, is rural and agriculture-dependent. The bill was co-sponsored by 10 GOP legislators who are also concerned for the welfare of their states if climate change goes unchecked. One way to get our heads out of the sand is to contact our congressional representatives and ask them to support H.R. 424: “Resolved, That the House of Representatives commits to working constructively, using our tradition of American ingenuity, innovation, and exceptionalism, to create and support economically viable, and broadly supported private and public solutions to study and address the causes and effects of measured changes to our global and regional climates, including mitigation efforts and efforts to balance human activities that have been found to have an impact.”
