Terry letter: Hybrid vehicles
A message to other owners of fuel-efficient cars (hybrids and electric).
Be prepared for “sticker shock” when your car license/registration expires. Remember when we heard that all car owners would be taxed an additional $21 for road and bridge maintenance and repair beginning in July 2015? Well, brace yourselves. Your additional cost will actually be $96, as was mine. That extra (unpublicized) $75 per year is because we do not pay enough for gasoline. So be prepared to be “penalized” for your efforts in protecting the environment. If this inequitable tax bothers you as much as it does me, I suggest you contact your local legislators and encourage them to rethink this biased tax approach.
