Mickelson letter: Debate editorial

Your editorial Nov. 4 was one of the most self-serving, biased and childish editorials to grace the pages of the Idaho Statesman to date. Your assumption that people who seek political office are fair game to absurd and gotcha questions is most repugnant to the majority of people. Yes, you have a responsibility to ask tough questions to determine, as was stated in the editorial, the qualifications of a candidate; you do not have the right to not be challenged when you ask questions that fit your personal bias or as you blithely stated, mean questions.

In my opinion, the press needs to step up to the plate of civility, respect and thoughtful communications. I did watch all three debates and found reasons to be critical of every participant, including the moderator and panelists, on each occurrence. Take the heat.
