Fisch letter: Refugees
I am glad to see Gov. Butch Otter joined the group of 20-plus state governors to oppose taking in more Syrian refugees. The Paris attacks made it clear that the risk of importing terrorists with the refugees is too high. President Obama claimed the Syrian refugees are “carefully vetted,” but how can we vet people from a country torn apart by war? The infrastructure is destroyed, the government no longer controls most of the territory, and in many cases the local police and government have been taken over by ISIS. There’s no way to vet people in such a chaotic situation. We simply shouldn’t bring them here.
