Tanton letter: ACHD

Apparently ACHD has changed their white paint chemical make-up. Since I’ve started driving 50-plus years ago, I have never had a problem seeing the lines in the road regardless of the sun, rain or even the dark of night. I have noticed since they have chipseal and painted it is very hard to see the white lane markings in those areas. Just yesterday I was going south on 16th St. going to Americana Boulevard about 6 p.m. when I came out from under the overpass at the skate park, all lane markings disappeared, including crosswalks, until I got past Shoreline Drive. I have seen the same problem with Orchard from Overland to the freeway. In any of the unchanged areas you can still see lane markings with the old paint in any condition. This is very unsafe and needs to be addressed. If you are having this same problem, please call or write our commissioners whom ACHD reports to. Contacting ACHD will do nothing but get you a form letter and hot air (experience).
