Lachiondo

Leadership matters. Experience matters. In Ada County, who serves as commissioner really matters and that is why I enthusiastically endorse Diana Lachiondo.

She is a natural-born leader who compassionately serves. I’ve seen firsthand her love for this state and our people. I served alongside Diana on the United Way of Treasure Valley Board. On the board, she stood out as someone who understood the issues and the actions required to get a job done. I looked up to her and learned from her example then and have watched her make a difference in our community ever since.

As a commissioner, Diana has been fantastic. Her record speaks for itself. I would put her record up against anyone who has served in that capacity.

Contrast Diana’s preparation and track record with that of Ryan Davidson. Many Republicans saw firsthand Ryan’s poor handling of the Ada County Republican Party and know that he is unfit to lead the largest county government in Idaho.

My fear is that Ryan will get votes simply because of the R beside his name. I plead with you to do your research. Spend five minutes comparing the candidates and I am confident, just like me, you will vote for Diana Lachiondo for Ada County commissioner.

Pedestrian, bicycle use

Kuna can certainly use any new ACHD Commissioners who consider pedestrian and bicycle use in Kuna. Their recent commission has seemingly ignored this issue. ACHD spent over a million dollars on a silly traffic circle while three of the four approach streets don’t even have sidewalks. They removed both parking and bicycle lanes in downtown without providing any alternate route. They put a handicapped parking space in front of a drive-up coffee store, so the space is always occupied and unavailable. We still have no pedestrian crossing on Swan Falls Road and we can’t walk to either the post office or the library. I live 2,500 feet from the Kuna City Hall, but I have no sidewalks to get there. Kuna’s dear leaders let this happen. Hooray if ACHD can do something to help our mobility.

Midas Gold

In response to Dr. Kustra’s editorial, I just want to say with respect, sir, your knowledge and experience as a politician in Illinois decades ago does not harbor your knowledge of our resource industry that is the very demand you exploit in the ability to use a computer, an iPhone, your vehicle, your clothing and your glasses to read. If you put your glasses on to the need of the resource you would like to shun, then please get rid of all of them, stand naked and be a bell crier. Our mining industry is strong and responsible. As a former mining manager the denial to allow respectful and 21st century mining technology and stewardship is misplaced. You can’t want and not receive. You buy, you support mining every day. The Midas project has the ability to bring great jobs and resources we need. If you still disagree, please start communicating on top of a hill with your voice because your message is made possible by mining. America outsources many of our critical needs, unregulated, humanity abuse on many levels, Our country does better; good jobs, deliver resources that everyone takes for granted. Think on it. Please.

Bundy

To the citizens of Idaho,

I’m certain many, if not most, Washingtonians join me in thanking you for letting Ammon Bundy live there. (Idaho high school football game stopped at halftime after dispute involving Ammon Bundy; Idaho Statesman, Oct. 2, 2020). We owe you one.
