Letters to the editor: Mayor’s transition team report

Socialist wish list

Congratulations, Boise, you elected yet another Democrat mayor! Have you seen the liberal socialist wish list she and others (whom she picked) came up with? Geez, she doesn’t waste any time starting efforts to change Boise into another San Francisco or Seattle. Boise a sanctuary city? What a slap in the face to honest legal citizens. Elected officials are expected to support and defend their citizens, not illegals who break the law (being “illegal,” they’re already law breakers). Thanks to those officials who put illegals above the rest of us. Sex ed in kindergarten and the first few grades? That’s horrible and wrong. Kids that young don’t need to have sex ed taught by some organization. Besides, it’s taking the parents’ rights away regarding what’s taught to their kids and when. There’s much more on the wish list but not enough room here. I was born and grew up in Boise and it’d be a disaster to have this wonderful city follow the path of San Francisco and Seattle. If you want to live in such a city, move there, please. Don’t ruin Boise.

Nothing to fix here

The current culture of Idaho and its capital city, have a direct effect on the quality of life for those who live here. This is largely why the Treasure Valley is experiencing its population boom, in my opinion. After reading about the list of recommendations Mayor McLean’s team put together, I am very concerned as someone who moved here from California one year ago. While I believe Mayor McLean and her team have good intentions, I have seen first hand the serious unintended consequences such governmental policies have on a community. My wife and I uprooted our family and left established careers with six-figure salaries, so we could raise our children in a more wholesome and safe community. To read that some in our government are trying to bring Boise down a road paved by cities like San Francisco, Seattle and Portland is disheartening. The Treasure Valley is an amazing place to live and raise a family. I know Mayor McLean wants to improve her city, but if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Don’t ruin Boise

Last Friday, I felt like I had gone to bed in Boise and woke up in San Francisco! When I read the story on the front page concerning the recommendations given to our “Mayor” by her advisory committee I couldn’t believe it! Provide free abortions on demand to our residents! Sex education in our schools starting with kindergarten! Become a sanctuary city and refuse to work with ICE or follow federal law! More diversity in city hiring and elections for gays, lesbians, transgender and minorities! Affirmative action at its best! Correct wage disparity by lowering wages for top wage earners and raising wages for the lower earners! Socialism at its best! I voted for this mayor, not because I liked her but as the lesser of two evils, never dreaming we could go from bad to worse, but we did! I have lived in this great city for almost 70 years, long before these liberals ruined their home states and decided to bring their vile here! I love Boise, but now that I have voiced my dismay, these same people will probably say, “If you don’t like it here why don’t you leave?” Wouldn’t they just love that!
