Letters to the editor: Biden, Trump, McLean
Biden
I admit that Joe Biden recently made an ill-considered statement in a radio interview. He owned it and he apologized. His critics are outraged. When Trump tells lies every day, promotes conspiracy theories, calls people names, and ridicules their appearance, people shrug and say, “That’s just Trump.” By any measure, Joe Biden is better qualified to be president; his experience and his temperament are far superior to Trump’s. We need to elect Joe Biden in November and send Trump back to his golf courses.

Trump
We are just shy of 100,000 dead in three months time while Trump takes a golfing weekend. Sends us the picture of his sense of responsibility, ability, and compassion doesn’t it? 100,000 families reeling as he golfs.
Sad to say this is indicative of the former Republican Party’s ability to govern. Trump is the culmination of decades of anti-government anti-working people themes that started with Reagan. What’s been going on for years? Destroy health care, destroy the social safety net which includes Social Security and Medicare, food stamps, housing, destroy education, let the infrastructure decay.
Destroy government how? First by de-funding it and by putting in charge anyone from total incompetents to totally anti the agency or department or court position. Trump and the Cult of Trump GOP have raised this to an art form.
The CARES Act which helped primarily big corporations and the rich passed. The HEROES Act which helps us, helps protect voting during the pandemic, and helps the essential US Postal Service is being held up by Trump and “Moscow” Mitch McConnell so they can get more incompetent judges on the bench.
Vote these callous craven people out and vote Democratic Nov. 3. Our lives matter.

Mayor McLean
I am stunned! We all should be stunned. What did we elect as Mayor of Boise? Many of us voted strictly against Dave Bieter, not for Lauren McLean. Now, the socialist manifesto “A More Equitable City For Everyone” surfaces. Does this mean that we all get a participation trophy? The second reddest state in the union, and now the capital city, Boise, will be a sanctuary city? An incredible lack of reality. And, to make matters worse the new socialist mayor will offer on demand abortion paid for by the citizens of Boise. Sex education in the public school system beginning with Pre K? This is not what we voted for. Does our mayor think that Portland and San Francisco bear standards which we wish to embrace? We are not a socialist state nor a welfare state and sure do not wish the capital city to be one either. It may very well be time for the citizens of Boise to make another change in the mayor’s office. Hopefully, if that happens, only valid residents of Boise would be eligible to cast a ballot. Get a clue Madame Mayor.

Boise plans
When I picked up my paper this morning and read all of the innovations we can expect to be subjected to by our new mayor, I felt like I had been transported to California! Sanctuary city and all, free abortions, sex education to first-graders! I had a bad feeling when she got elected and turned out I was right. She is a true Californian, or even Oregon Kate Brown, in disguise. My God, friends and neighbors, how did we get this creature in our lives? I know, free elections, but there must be some liberal brew in the air as I can’t see true Idahoans letting this liberal sob sister in our wonderful city....God help us if she follows through with her proposed ill-conceived plans!

Trump accusations
I have asked this before, and I will ask it again. What will it take of our Congressmen in Washington to stand up to Trump and his lies? Their job is the fight for us, not to tow the party line. Romney, Cherney, and even Ann Coulter have spoken out against Trump lately. His recent Tweet accusing Joe Scarbourough in the tragic death of his Congressional aide back in 2001 is not only unfounded, but has caused undo anguish to her grieving widow. His fight to crush voting rights, by pushing to stop mail in ballots, is a blow to our democracy. It’s also humorous, because he himself voted by absentee ballot. I am asking every Idahoan who loves this country, to speak out. Write your congressmen, and if you don’t get a satisfactory answer, use your voting rights, and replace them, and Trump with someone who will fight for the good of this country! Trump, Crapo, Risch, Simpson and Fulcher are not doing their job!
