Ehrnstein letter: Vote for best candidate

If I was new to the United States I would have to believe that as long as he is a Republican it is OK for the president to be a sexual predator, to constantly lie to the nation, or even engage in obstruction of justice and hinder an investigation about his own possible collusion with a foreign government. Because he is a Republican, our Congress is willing to overlook the president’s lies. When are our representatives going to start representing the people who voted for them instead of their Party? It did not matter that the new tax cut for the wealthy created a huge deficit, the entire Idaho delegation voted for it because they are Republicans and they dutifully voted the Party line. That kind of thinking kills a democracy. Our democracy and our nation is lost unless We the People do our homework. Please don’t vote for a candidate because of an “R” or a “D” after their name. Vote for a candidate because they deserve your vote. Next time you enter the voting booth please know who you are voting for and why they deserve your vote.
