Jedry letter: Downtown stadium

In a recent article regarding funding of this proposed Boise downtown stadium, the city of Boise is to “contribute” $3 million in cash and Greater Boise Auditorium District would add $5 million. It needs to be noted that neither of these entities generates a dime of income — this money is taxpayer money.

Historically government, especially Democrat controlled governments including city councils, underestimate the costs of projects and overestimates the rewards of those projects. Ultimately what happens is that they must raise taxes to pay for their miscalculations — typical for spend and tax bureaucrats like Mayor Bieter.
