Juiliano letter: Shop local
Today while shopping for a few items we noticed something which should disturb everyone … the number of empty retail spaces, businesses and stores is just disturbing and should cause every taxpayer to stop and think about supporting businesses here in Boise. There is a surplus of mattress and tire stores, nail salons and “goodwill” stores — and empty shopping centers and strip malls. Consider your current tax bills. We cannot afford to finance a huge jobless, unemployed and impoverished population. It’s time to support local Boise businesses. Amazon and other “cheaper” online shopping businesses will not bail America out — will not help us or our economy when it goes down the tubes.
