Cook letter: BSU football
With regards to Boise State football. I guess my most overwhelming thought is ... I sure miss Coach Pete. I miss the recruiting that was done under him, the play calling, the development of the players, the intensity and heart the team had year after year, regardless of new players coming in.
We were the darlings of ESPN. But you can bet those days are now over after that Virginia game. We were spoiled for so long. We got used to being a Top 25 team year after year. We will not be close to that again for quite some time. We will be OK in our conference, maybe. But our days of being a national power have faded for the foreseeable future, as you can see that in the empty stands at Albertsons Stadium.
I really wanted to see Coach Harsin and his staff succeed. But there have been many things I hoped for and never saw materialize. That loss against Virginia was the final chance for any hope of being even remotely considered a national power for at least a couple years. Sigh .... It was a really great ride while it lasted.
