Dixon letter: Government

Instead of draining the swamp, the swamp could be abolished. The people should be allowed to vote at every four-year general election on relocating the convening place of Congress to the congressmen and senators’ home districts in the states. They could have a standardized electronic office in his/her home district where they could appear on real time television, answer roll call, debate, vote on the issues before Congress. The congressmen would not need two homes, they would be protected from a single disaster or attack, be less available to special interests’ influence, would not need to fly home every weekend, could attend regular office hours, and be more available to their constituents.

Micron, Apple, Microsoft and other interested companies should be asked to develop such an office as a test model, with all the audiovisuals and television in place, to be the standard facility which would be modular and mobile and able to be moved and set up as constituents change their elected officials. The whole facility could be sited on an existing vacant parking lot.

What do you all think? Call your congressmen and give them your opinions.
