Lorentz letter: Donald Trump

According to The Washington Post, Trump has told 1,145 lies (false and misleading claims) since his inauguration through July 21, 2017. The WP lists each of the lies and how many times he has told it. Telling a lie over and over does not make it true. Unfortunately for those who claim this is fake news, it is easy to check this out at multiple sources using Google search. If you have been paying attention at all, you already know this is not fake news. Approximately 60 percent of Americans do not think Trump is honest or trustworthy. When did lying become part of the Republican Party platform? Why are Crapo, Labrador, Risch and Simpson continuing to support a president who some call a pathological liar and the majority of Americans no longer trust or believe? The honesty, integrity and morality of Idaho’s congressmen becomes questionable if they choose to support a president who makes false and misleading claims (lies) almost on a daily basis to the American people. A democracy requires a shared commitment to truth to sustain itself; at some point, lying by politicians will undermine and threaten democracy.
