Isbelle letter: Fair elections resolution

I recently had a phone call with Idaho Senator Fred Martin. I was asking for his support for the Idaho State Resolution to Restore Free and Fair Elections. Senator Martin told me he opposed the resolution because he does not think that money is corrupting our political process. He does not agree with overturning Citizens United. He is perfectly fine with corporations spending unlimited amounts of money buying our elections because he himself is a former CEO and thinks that corporations are people and money is speech for those “people” to use in our elections.

If you are an Idaho resident, or especially a resident of District 15, let Senator Fred Martin know if you agree with him that democracy should be for sale in America or not. Tell him to stand up and fight for real living people of Idaho, not theoretical, man-made entities driven solely by profit. And every citizen should have the equal opportunity to run for office.

Fred Martin: 208-447-9000, fmartin@senate.idaho.gov
