Satterwhite letter: East Boise development
On behalf of East Boise Concerned Citizens, I would like to express our gratitude to Boise City Planning and Zoning and the Boise City Council for their guidance and the privilege of testimony regarding our concerns with a multi-family development planned along east Warm Springs Avenue. Our ad hoc group of adjacent property owners, concerned citizens and neighborhood associations worked diligently to research the Boise Comprehensive Plan “Blueprint Boise” and the Barber Valley specific plans known as SP01 and SP02. We identified that the proposed development was not consistent with these long term planning documents. These documents arose from a planning process carried out in 2006 which involved many hours of formalized discussions among the Harris family, surrounding neighborhoods and multiple city professionals and planners. They seek to honor the history of the valley while providing for the necessary and inescapable growth of Boise in an organized manner. We sincerely appreciate the Council and P&Z’s consideration of our concerns regarding fire, wildlife and traffic safety as well as density incompatible with the surrounding neighborhoods. We look forward to working with developers and the city to ensure that future proposals stay true to the intent and vision of the Comprehensive Plan.
