Vande Merwe letter: Assisted Living Week

This week assisted living communities are celebrating National Assisted Living Week. We honor the individuals served, as well as the individuals who serve, in assisted living communities across the nation with special activities and events. The theme this year is “Family is Forever.” The theme was inspired by a quote from Maya Angelou: “Family isn’t always blood, it’s the people in your life who want you in theirs: the ones who accept you for who you are, the ones who would do anything to see you smile and who love you no matter what.”Assisted living is so much more than long term care; it’s a family. Many companies are family owned and operated and caregivers often come to think of residents as part of their family. We’re honored to recognize the ties that bind during this National Assisted Living Week. Communities around Idaho offer a variety of events and activities to celebrate the individuals they serve, as well as to help educate members of the public. Members of the public are encouraged to visit an assisted living community or to volunteer. For more information about assisted living facilities in Idaho go to: www.careconversations.org
