Merrick letter: Star recall

I read with dismay yet another article about the attempted recall in Star of our elected mayor and councilman. The thing that bothered me most about this article was learning of an incident which to all appearances, as reported, seems to be the blackmail of Mr. Erlebach. It’s one thing to expose facts for public consumption, but a whole other ballgame when it’s “do this, or I’ll do that.” Good for Mr. Erlebach for standing tall, and good for our mayor and Councilman Nielsen for doing what is right, and most importantly, legal, for our community.

I have lived in Star for a few years, and with very few exceptions, have found our community to be generous, intelligent and fair-minded people. Growing pains should not divide us.
