Kinney letter: DACA

Thank you, Bill Manny, for your excellent (Sept. 6) commentary on “Breaking Trust with Children of Immigrants.” Throughout our country’s history, we have had a plethora of examples of how fear can immobilize, spur injustices, or propel courage among our fellow Americans. For DACA children and young adults, it took courage “to trust our government and register” giving up personal information in the hopes that they could become educated, contributing members of our society. The DACA young people believe they are part of the tapestry of the future of this country. I believe it, too. And, I salute your faith and bravery.

Mary Lou Kinney, Boise
