Silva letter: Divided nation

We are a divided nation. In my humble eyes I see one side who wants jobs, can pay fair taxes, have a good health plan, be law-abiding citizens, and have a happy retirement.

I see the other side who wants things for free, health care, education and in some cases money to live on without a job. Welfare is a common word for this group, and in the last administration it has grown substantially. The countries who have selected this type of government are now facing disaster, Venezuela, Greece and other socialistic countries that have subscribed to this form, are in turmoil and unrest.

Because of free speech, and everyone having an opinion we have become a divided nation. All the social media, TV and newspapers have had their fun and now we have become more divided than ever in our history.

My theoretical idea is this, divide the country into conservatives and liberals. If you could do this geographically it would work, but because it would be impossible to do this in the U.S.

If it could work, what do you think the outcome would be? Would conservatives stay strong and keep progressing? Would liberals eat their young?
