Bergamo letter: Bear baiting

Regarding Idaho big game laws — black bear season starts in North Idaho soon. I wanted to bring up both the legal and illegal take of black bear parts. Most bears are lured in by legal and illegal bait sites. Fish and Game has strict rules for both of these outdated laws. Unfortunately, none of the rules are being followed in my neck of the woods. Nine dead bears. Only galbladder, paws, claws and teeth taken. Not legal.

I address this atrocity to Gov. Butch Otter; Virgil Moore, director of Fish and Game, and commissioners. You guys need to look at this lucrative, illegal issue by unethical, scumbag hunters. You guys intend to legalize grizzly hunts? I can only imagine the lucrative illegal market for grizzly bear parts. Do you guys work for wildlife anymore? Quit constantly whining about wolves, get to the real issue. Speak out about unethical hunters who decimate predator/prey species with their greed and illegal profits. Both laws are unethical. Make it illegal to profit from bear parts and bear baiting. Fish and Game will gain a huge profit from fines. Guaranteed.
