Harper letter: Climate exhaustion

Well meaning faithful like Elizabeth Roberts (Statesman Aug. 24 letter) accept without challenge the 13 (FED) Agency draft’s repeated mantra that warming = human causation. It does not. Surprise. Science overwhelmingly finds CO2 “lags” temperature often by hundreds of years. Test: Not one scientist on this planet has proven global CO2 drives global temperature. Many things confirm that CO2 is not the cause of the temperature increases. One thing is certain — earth’s climate has been warming and cooling on its own for at least the last 400,000 years, as the research shows. At year 18,000 and counting in our current interglacial vacation from the Ice Age, we may be due — some say overdue — for return to another icehouse climate. Over 39+ sources support “Lagging CO2” by true scientists to back it up (from C.R. Scotese and Berner to conclusions by Dr. E. J. Easterbrook, Dr. Roy Spencer and my own research since 2008. Summary: (1) CO2 is not a pollutant. (2) It is non-toxic under normal use. (3) Benefits far outweigh negatives for both humans and plant life. (4) CO2 is a lagging indicator of global warming. (5) CO2 has been many times higher during previous ice ages.
