Lodal letter: Donald Trump
After watching the debacle of this presidency, I think I can now see more clearly what is really afoot. Donald Trump will never unite the USA. His pathetic pal Roger Stone stated the prevailing ideology in this way. Politics is not about unity. It’s about dividing the electorate and doing whatever it takes. Does this sound familiar?
This president will support anyone and anything that gets him votes. Note his nauseating press conference from Trump Tower after the violence in Charlottesville. His top priorities are his family’s wealth and his own fragile ego. He doesn’t give a rip about the nation if it doesn’t align with his own desires.
I am no longer under any illusion that unity can be achieved with this buffoon in the White House. A divided and angry electorate brought him to power and that theme continues well into his presidency. While I must still search for the best way to reopen communication with individuals who hold different political views, I know that this will never happen with our president. Driving wedges between Americans is what he does.
Sad. And stunningly selfish.
