Peterson letter: Donald Trump

During the last presidential campaign and since, our Idaho senators and representatives have shown themselves to be lacking in both character and judgment with respect to their support of our current president, an individual who has repeatedly displayed a wanton disregard for the Constitution, our allies in the world, and the very basics of civility. The Office of the President is neither red nor blue, conservative nor liberal, and a president’s actions should embrace the common good. Unfortunately, the current occupant of the office is not misguided, but is simply vacuous and is rapidly eroding the foundation of our democratic republic. It’s time to stand tall and represent the State of Idaho as we the people expect you to; otherwise, stand aside and allow someone with gravitas to take your place.
