Jones letter: Idaho
On Aug. 16, the Statesman published a story about Idaho being the second most hateful state in the country. Later that day the15th anniversary of the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial was celebrated at the Wassmuth Center for Human Rights. I’m deeply disappointed that there has been no coverage of that event. With what’s been going on in our country in the aftermath of Charlottesville and Idaho’s history and reputation of a safe haven for white supremacists, it seems to me that recognition of Idaho’s efforts in the protection of human rights would be newsworthy. In the future, I hope the Statesman will choose to publish articles that showcase what’s good about Idaho, educate us about the morally correct path and reinforce the fact that Idaho Is Too Great for Hate.
