Hurst letter: Charlottesville
I am sickened and angry at hearing President Trump being pilloried from every side for his comments regarding Charlottesville. There is in fact a moral equivalency between the white supremacist groups and the anarchist groups who were bused into Charlotteville specifically to sew mayhem, confrontation and violence.
Local, legitimate anti-demonstrators were co-opted by outside groups, specifically Antifa, a group of self-proclaimed anarchists, Marxists and avowed haters of capitalism whose genesis goes back to the1920’s-30’s Weimar republic.
Mr. Trump was not referring to legitimate anti-demonstrators when he made his “many sides” comment. He was referring to this anarchist, Marxist group who seeks to undermine this country and yes, who are equally responsible for bringing to a boil the tensions in Charlottesville, and in many other places where they have been sent, swinging their clubs and flinging their filth into the crowds.
To those of you who have joined in the mad rush to call Trump a fascist, a racist, a Nazi, white supremacist, whatever, your voice has absolutely no authenticity or legitimacy to me. There was blame to go around on all sides, and this was his point.
