Frank Bruni of The New York Times elevates Trump-bashing to such a level it almost seems irrefutable (Aug. 10 Depth section of the Statesman, “Sorry Mike Pence, you’re doomed”). Like cartoonist Gary Trudeau (“Yuge”) he lampoons Trump so skillfully it’s hard to find a toehold for disagreement. Time may prove both of them right, or it could prove both of them wrong. Neither is a prophet, despite their journalistic and technical skills. Neither is president, so their diatribes offer no empathy, ultimately coming across as pompous and mean-spirited.
I thought someone should do a hatchet job on them as they have both done on Trump. How lovely that the “Letters” page offers me that opportunity.
