As a new arrival to the beautiful city of Boise, I have been taking advantage of Esther Simplot Park and Quinn’s Pond. My husband and I often ride our bikes to the pond in the late afternoon to cool down. He swims laps and I just splash around on my noodle. I know how to swim but feel safer with a noodle to keep me afloat. It occurred to me that it would be nice if there were noodles available at the edge of the ponds to borrow. In Alaska, where I have recently moved from, there are life jackets available at rivers for boaters to borrow. I wonder if Boise’s Parks and Rec could make noodles available? I would be happy to donate to that cause. Perhaps if there had been noodles available, our newly arrived refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Dieudonne Eca, would not have drowned on July 14.
